Standard and Special Delivery Locations

So, you want to send a cake to a beloved friend or loved one, but they aren’t at home? At Cakes Overseas, we pride ourselves on being able to deliver your cake around the world and right next door, and that includes unique and special delivery locations! We can deliver cakes and sweets to all sorts of places, including cruise ships, churches, schools, businesses, and even hospitals.

We would like you to keep in mind that although we can gladly deliver gifts to these unusual locations, in most instances, we will not be allowed to hand them directly to your recipient. Similar to private businesses, a receptionist is likely to be the point of contact with our courier, and they will usually pass gifts along to your recipient. While we have a very high success rate for these types of deliveries, we have no way of knowing if your recipient has indeed received their cake from reception (especially if we do not have a working phone number for your recipient). Cakes Overseas cannot be held responsible for issues that may arise during these types of deliveries once your order has been delivered to reception.

Here are our most helpful hints for sending cake to a unique or special delivery location.

  1. 1. Provide us with a working and local phone number for your recipient. This will guarantee that we can reach them regarding their delivery.
  2. 2. Tell your recipient about their delivery. This will give them a chance to coordinate with their front desk about how their delivery should be handled once it’s out of the courier’s hands.
  3. 3. Reach out to your recipient to verify they received their cake from reception.

Standard Residential Deliveries

To assure successful delivery, the residential address of your recipient must include all relevant information. This includes things like door codes, apartment numbers, and the recipient’s full name. If the name appearing on a mailbox is not that of the recipient, it is essential to add that to your comment field during check-out.

If your recipient is not at home at the time of the courier’s delivery, they may leave it at a safe location or with a concierge or neighbor (if allowed by courier). The courier may also leave a note specifying a new delivery attempt time and date and their own contact details. With most couriers, three attempts will be made before the recipient will have to pick their cake up themselves.

Rerouting your delivery to another location such as a school or business is sometimes a possibility; however, it may result in an additional delivery fee. Please keep in mind that each country and courier company may have different rules and internal policies.

Standard Business Deliveries

While Cakes Overseas has a high success rate for delivering to office buildings, it should be noted that traditionally, our couriers are not allowed to deliver directly to your recipient. Your cake will be given to reception to be passed on to your recipient. Cakes Overseas cannot be held responsible for issues that might occur with your cake once it has been delivered to the reception or if the office staff fails to forward the cake or any extras to the intended recipient.

To help guarantee a successful cake delivery, please include the recipient’s full name, their company’s full name, the complete address, including suite numbers, and a contact number. Extra information to help the courier would include the recipient’s department name and their position within the company.

We also highly suggest that your delivery day does not fall on a weekend or a local public holiday. These will result in delivery on the next business day. Rerouting your cake to another address (i.e., residential) is possible; however, an additional delivery fee might apply. Delivery procedures are subject to internal courier policies as well as the destination country.

Special Delivery to a Hotel

During checkout, it is requested you include the following information in the comments section when sending to a hotel:

  • The full name of the hotel.
  • The full name of the person who the BOOKING IS UNDER.
  • If they are a guest at the hotel, please provide their room number as well as check-in and check-out times.
  • If they are a staff member of the hotel, please provide their department name.

While Cakes Overseas has a high success rate for delivering to hotels, it should be noted that traditionally, our couriers are not allowed to deliver directly to your recipient within a hotel. Your cake will be given to reception and passed on to your recipient. Cakes Overseas cannot be held responsible for issues that might occur with your cake once it has been delivered to the reception or if the hotel staff fails to forward the cake or any extras to the intended recipient.

Delivery Procedures may vary slightly depending on your recipient’s country as well as hotel guidelines and the courier’s internal policy.

Special Delivery to a Hospital

During checkout, it is requested you include the following information in the comments section when sending to a hospital:

  • The Full Name of the hospital.
  • Your recipient’s full name as they are known at the hospital.
  • If they are a patient, please include their room number and the department they are in.
  • If they are a staff member, please include the department they work in.

While Cakes Overseas has a high success rate for delivering to hospitals, it should be noted that traditionally, our couriers are not allowed to deliver directly to your recipient within a hospital regardless if they are staff or a patient. Your cake will be delivered to either an administration desk or a department where incoming deliveries are handled to be passed on to your recipient. Cakes Overseas cannot be held responsible for issues that might occur with your cake once it has been delivered to administration or if the hospital staff fails to forward the cake or any extra gifts to the intended recipient.

We ask that you please make sure the cake and any extra items you send are appropriate for a hospital environment and confirm that your recipient’s name is what is on record at the hospital. It is also beneficial to know when the patient will be discharged from the hospital in the event there is a delay in delivery.

Delivery Procedures may vary slightly depending on your recipient’s country as well as hospital guidelines and the courier’s internal policy.

Special Delivery to a School

During checkout, it is requested you include the following information in the comments section when sending to a school:

  • The Full School Name.
  • Your Recipient’s Full Name as they are known by the school.
  • If they are a student, please provide their classroom number and faculty name.
  • If they are a staff member, please provide their department and faculty name.

While Cakes Overseas has a high success rate for delivering to schools, it should be noted that traditionally, our couriers are not allowed to deliver directly to your recipient within a school regardless of if they are staff or student. Your cake will be delivered to either an administration desk or a department where incoming deliveries are handled to be passed on to your recipient. Cakes Overseas cannot be held responsible for issues that might occur with your cake once it has been delivered to administration or if the school staff fails to forward the cake or any extra gifts to the intended recipient, or if the student or staff fails to pick it up from administration.

Some schools do not allow deliveries that might interrupt class or the students. Rerouting your gift to another location (i.e., a residential address) is possible, however, this may result in an additional delivery fee.

Delivery Procedures may vary slightly depending on your recipient’s country as well as school policy and guidelines and the courier’s internal policy.

Special Delivery to Cruise Ships

During checkout, it is mandatory to include the following information in the address field when sending to a cruise ship.

  • Cruise Ship Line.
  • Departure Port.
  • Cabin Number.
  • Reservation Number.
  • Please note if your recipient is staff on the cruise or if they are a guest.

Traditionally, cruise ships have their own internal delivery policy, which often requires the recipient to pick up their gift. If this happens to be the case, you will be provided all necessary information to inform the recipient of their cake delivery. While Cakes Overseas has a high success rate for delivering to cruise ships, it should be noted that it can be troublesome to reach your recipient on the phone. Cakes Overseas cannot be held responsible for issues that may arise with your cake once it has been delivered to the ship.

It is also advisable to know the exact date your recipient is leaving port in the event there is a delay with your delivery.

Special Delivery to a Church/Temple

During checkout, it is mandatory to include the following information in the comments section when sending to a Church or Temple:

  • Full Name of the Church or Temple.
  • Full Address.
  • Does the recipient work at the church (Please provide their position), or will they just be there for the day (Please provide the occasion — i.e., Wedding, Mass, Funeral, etc.).

If our couriers encounter any issues with locating your recipient, the cake may be left with a member of the church staff. While Cakes Overseas has a high success rate of delivering to Churches and Temples, we cannot be held responsible for issues that may arise with your cake once it has been delivered to a church staff member. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee an exact delivery time as our couriers have their own schedules, but we will pass on your request to try to meet your expectations. Rerouting your gift to another location (i.e., a residential address) is possible; however, this may result in an additional delivery fee.

Delivery Procedures may vary slightly depending on your recipient’s country as well as the church’s policy and guidelines and the courier’s internal policy.
